Our School Awards and Achievements

Rights Respecting Schools
Trafalgar Community Infant School is a Level 2 UNICEF Rights Respecting School (RRS). This introduces children to the rights of every child as outlined by the UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It also highlights that alongside these rights there are also responsibilities and introduces children to the promotion of children’s rights throughout the world and what it means to be a Global Citizen.

The children are taught about RRS in assembly, across the curriculum through a variety of subjects, and by participating in different charity based events such as Harvest, and Christmas Jumper Day.

Each class has a class charter which is formulated through the children's own ideas of how each class can take responsibility to ensure that every child's rights are respected. Each class has a meeting at the start of the year to put this in place and the display permeates the teaching and learning for the rest of the year. Charters are also situated in other areas of the school such as the garden and the playground.

Investors in Health and National Healthy School
We have achieved the Investors in Health award and hold National Healthy Schools status. This identifies that we have met the assessed themes of the programme; Personal, Social and Health Education, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Well-Being.

Eco Schools
We have a Silver Eco School award. We have an Eco team with two representatives from each Year 1 and Year 2 class. They are responsible for coordinating paper recycling and composting the fruit from their class each day. Each class designed posters to encourage the children and adults to turn off lights, to close doors, to recycle and to turn off taps. We have been involved in the ‘Switch off Fortnight’, ‘Waste Week’ and ‘Walk to School’ week.

International School Award
Trafalgar Community Infant School is proud to have achieved the Intermediate Level International School Award. This is to certify that we recognise and have introduced Internationalism to our school.
